The non-compliant TAC / IMEI reporting process has been created to enable regulators and organisations who are registered with the GSMA IMEI Database to report non-compliant TAC or IMEI to the GSMA. Where possible GSMA will remediate non-compliance or suggest corrective action to those brands and OEMs who are affected. The GSMA will also share information with governments, customs authorities and local law enforcement officials.
Claims of non-compliant TAC / IMEI must be submitted with proper evidence to the GSMA IMEI Helpdesk
to enable the GSMA to investigate on the Non-Compliant TAC / IMEI Reporting form
. Non-compliance can include but is not limited to cloned TAC / IMEI, counterfeit TAC / IMEI, multiple models being allocated under one TAC.
The minimum evidence required to accompany a submission to enable the GSMA to act, must include:
- TAC and IMEI of the device (s)
- Photograph (s) of the non-compliant or illegitimate device and its packaging
- Photograph (s) showing of the device IMEI (s) i) on screen ii) on packaging
- The name of the organisation responsible for the device in question, the device brand name, the model name
Additional intelligence could be submitted, for example:
- The original brand name and model name
- Contact information for the device, including contact name, email address
- Headquarter address of the device
- Web address where the device can be seen on sale
- When and how the evidence submitted was obtained
Upon submission the GSMA IMEI Helpdesk will review all information provided and subsequently acknowledge receipt of your form. Alternatively they might advise your report needs to be modified as a result of missing or unclear mandatory evidence.
Once a form is submitted, for confidential reasons, the GSMA cannot disclose the outcome or status of any non-compliant TAC / IMEI investigation. We will confidentially investigate submissions and share outcomes with local government where GSMA find clear evidence of illegal practises.
